World Metrology Day 2026 reminds us that strong and reliable measurement systems are essential to national progress, economic growth, and public confidence. This year’s theme, “Metrology: Building Trust in Policy Making,” highlights the critical role that accurate measurements play in shaping effective policies, supporting industry, protecting consumers, and advancing sustainable development.

Through the Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Science and Technology (MIST), the Government of Barbados remains committed to strengthening the nation’s quality infrastructure and supporting the important work of the Barbados National Standards Institution (BNSI) in promoting standards, innovation, and international competitiveness.

I commend all professionals in the fields of metrology, standards, and quality whose dedication continues to contribute to the development of Barbados.
