Mandate of the Committee
The Technical Committee – Honey, is charged with the task of reviewing the Barbados National Standard – BNS 35 – Specification for Honey.
Why the Standard Matters
Honey is a natural food product, rich in carbohydrates, and containing amino acids and protein. It has a high nutrient value and can be used as a sweetener, spread and as an ingredient in candy and pastries.
It is essential therefore to describe the properties of natural honey of good quality so that it may be distinguished from possible imitations or adulterated varieties.
Looking Ahead
BNSI is proud to support the efforts of the Technical Committee – Honey as it works to uphold quality, authenticity, and consumer confidence in Barbados’ honey products. We thank all members for their service and dedication.
